GRACE → LIFE → STORIES

I walked out of death twice.

Once you’ve watched the light go out and then return, you can’t pretend life is casual anymore.

I am here, by the grace of God, with time I did not earn.

The question that has stayed with me is simple:

Why was I saved?

SAVED By the Grace of Code is one answer.

I was born in 1966 at the height of the civil rights movement, later shaped by the grit and pride of blue-collar America, then forged by service in the U.S. Air Force.

Across six decades, life and work carried me from the shadows of the steel mills of the Lehigh Valley to the trenches of Silicon Valley tech startups, from war to entrepreneurship, from Bali to New York—and now through cancer.

Along the way, I accumulated stories.

Some beautiful.

Some painful.

Some unbelievable.

SAVED draws from my life.

The characters are fictional. The world they inhabit is not.

Their stories explore love, work, war, technology, ambition, mortality, family, country—and the people who somehow alter the trajectory of our lives.

At the center is a question I have spent much of my own life confronting:

What do you owe someone whose potential you can see—but they cannot?

Caravaggio believed holiness and life did not hover above the street. They stepped into the blood, the doubt, the fatigue.

His subjects were caught between abyss and illumination—not yet cleaned up, still visibly human.

That is where my characters live.

Between who we were and who we might become.

Between darkness and light.

Between being lost and being saved.
